While there is still much debate as to the origins of ice hockey, there is a high probability that the first game was played on Long Pond in Windsor, Nova Scotia in the early 1800’s.  “Hockey Was Invented By A Nova Scotian” tells the story of how Nova Scotians invented, developed and then shared their passion with the rest of Canada and the World.

James Creighton was born in Halifax and educated at Kings College in Windsor, Nova Scotia.  It was Creighton who organized the first game of indoor hockey in 1875 at the Victoria Skating Rink in Montréal.  (Apparently, they used Halifax rules and hockey sticks brought in from Nova Scotia).  Creighton later moved to Ottawa where he worked as a law clerk with the Senate and played hockey with the sons of Lord Stanley.  Many historians consider him the “Father of Canadian Ice Hockey

This song romanticises the notion that hockey is a skate blade above reality.  I compare the gravity defying nature of playing hockey to walking on air,   (walking on water might be more appropriate!)
